The ninth most common element, Titanium is twice as strong as stainless steel but nearly 45% lighter and twice as strong as aluminum. Most metals, when bent continuously, will break from metal fatigue. Products made from Titanium will stand up to virtually any abuse. Most eyeglass frames were made from Nickel until recently. Titanium's strength is in direct contrast to that of soft metal Nickel frames. Titanium frames can even "heal" themselves. Pure Titanium that becomes scratched, when placed in a container of water for 24 hours, returns to its original unscathed appearance.
